It’s a dangerous world we live in.  State secrets are being leaked left and right.  Professional athletes are sending inappropriate texts to women they trust far too easily.  And I think there are some wars going on, but I feel confident they’re being fought for good and noble purposes. Who ever went to war for anything other than good reasons? But I digress… Danger.  I talked to a friend recently who has a deathly fear of flying.  And no amount of statistical reasoning with her can convince her that planes are actually one of the safer forms of travel.  Nor that airplanes are actually supposed to be able to leave the ground.

There are enough things to be afraid of in this world.  So, we should probably save ourselves some worry and make sure that the dangers that are within our reach are minimized.   You know, if you have children and stairs, make sure to put the gate on the banister to keep them from falling down.  If you have a pool, invest in a pool cover to  keep them from falling in.  I’d recommend going with an automatic pool cover so you don’t have to strain yourself.  This is 2010, after all.  Keep up.

Also, maybe don’t go walking in Los Angeles traffic.  Basically use common sense.

Safety first, then teamwork.
